Imagine all your famous favourite nursery rhyme characters rolled into one special pantomime for the whole family.
Life at the village market starts off happy at nine in the morning but it soon turns nasty when three blind mice and three little pigs go missing, and then Queen Beryl’s pussy cat Sukey disappears.
As time passes, the list of missing animals grows longer as does the list of suspects. Was it Humpty Dumpty, Polly Flinders, Curly Locks, Little Bo Peep, King Willie Cole, Peter the Pumpkin Eater, Mary Mary, their son Tommy, or Baa Baa Bruiser the black sheep?
Queen Beryl hires a new royal guard, Jack who has to solve the mystery by the time the clock strikes one or hickory dickory dock it’s his head on the chopping block. Little Boy Blue keeps track of time as Jack be Quick works undercover as Jack the builder, Little Jack Horner, Jack (friend of Jill’s) and Jack Sprat to find the cat thieving fiend.
This show was originally called Hey Diddle Diddle when performed by various theatre groups in 1997, 1998 and 1999 but was later revised and renamed – Jack Be Quick – in 2005, with even more gimmicks and songs.
